Ed El Maolud: Fashola Urges Lagosians To Imbibe Lessons Of Life Of Humility And Sacrifice Of Prophet Mohammed
Feb 26, 2010 - Lagos State Governor, Mr Babatunde Fashola (SAN) on Friday urged all Lagosians especially Muslim brothers to use the occasion of the celebration of the Eid El Maolud to imbibe the lessons of the life of humility, sacrifice and sharing that the Holy Prophet Muhammed lived.
Governor Fashola who spoke in an interview with Airport Correspondents at the Presidential lounge of the Local wing of the Murtala Mohammed Airport , Ikeja on his return from Kano where he chaired the Convocation lecture of the Bayero University Kano wished all the Muslims a happy Maolud Nabbiy celebration.
Giving an insight into the lecture at Kano , the Governor said when institutions are being built, such institutions need men to build and sustain them.
He added that as important as the role of man is in building or managing institutions, the most important thing about corporate governance and institutional governance is that institutions are always bigger than men.
He explained: “When the institution fails or succeeds, it is men that have failed or succeeded. Even if you nurture it, the institution must be more important than the any individual”.
Among the members of the Executive Council who accompanied the Governor on the trip were the Commissioner for Finance, Mr Rotimi Oyekan and the Special Adviser on Central Business District, Hon Oyinlomo Danmole.
